Our responsibility
CARS expertise covers aerosol high-power lidars (AHL), automatic low-power lidars and ceilometers (ALC), and sun/sky/lunar/polarization photometers (ASP).
We are primarily responsible for supporting the operation of ACTRIS aerosol remote sensing National Facilities, however, we also provide related services to associated stations in Europe: EARLINET lidar stations, AERONET photometer stations and E-PROFILE ceilometers.
We also provide, on request, services to other users such as instrument manufacturers, lidar networks outside the continent, space agencies, research groups in the field of aerosol remote sensing, etc.
We are closely linked to the ACTRIS Data Centre node for aerosol remote sensing profiling (ARES), who is responsible for the centralized data processing, traceability and access to the lidar and photometer products.
Our goal is to develop, implement and promote ACTRIS standards for aerosol remote sensing.
